Clay sculptural head
Hand-moulded and built up in stages, beginning with the face and stretching out to form the skull, the creative process occurred over a period of weeks… the clay kept damp and asleep under layered wet cloths, until it was ready for the kiln.
The stylised form evokes a Roman bust, and the figure seems to breathe with a history of memories. This feeling is further conveyed by the cracks in the oil paint patina, which appear as the battle scars and wrinkles of the owner.
